Завдання 1. Прочитайте текст про Європейський Союз.
The EU, short for the European Union, is a special group countries in Europe that work together. They cooperate on many things like peace, trade, laws, and the movement of people.
A long time ago, there were many wars in Europe. After World War II, some countries decided they wanted to stop fighting and start working together. They wanted peace and to help each other's economies grow. Over time, more and more countries joined, and it became the European Union we know today.
Now there are 27 countries in the European Union:
· Austria
· Belgium
· Bulgaria
· Croatia
· Cyprus
· Czechia
· Denmark
· Estonia
· Finland
· France
· Germany
· Greece
· Hungary
· Ireland
· Italy
· Latvia
· Lithuania
· Luxembourg
· Malta
· Netherlands
· Poland
· Portugal
· Romania
· Slovakia
· Slovenia
· Spain
· Sweden
The main goals of the EU are:
Peace: To stop wars and keep peace in Europe.
Prosperity: To make countries richer and help people find jobs.
Freedom: To let people, goods, and money move freely between countries. For example, you can travel from France to Germany without showing your passport!
Security: To work together against crime and other dangers.
A Strong Voice: To be strong together on the world stage.
The EU is built on important values. These are like the rules and beliefs that guide the EU and its countries. These values are:
Human Dignity: Everyone is important and should be respected.
Freedom: People should be free to think, speak, and choose what they want to do (as long as it's not bad for others).
Democracy: People can choose their leaders in fair elections.
Equality: Everyone should be treated the same, no matter who they are.
Rule of Law: Everyone must follow the law, even leaders.
Human Rights: Everyone has basic rights, like the right to live, to be safe, and to have a good life.
The EU has important groups that help it work. These are like the "brain" and "hands" of the EU:
The European Commission: This group proposes new EU laws and makes sure that EU laws are followed. They are like the "engine" of the EU.
The European Parliament: People in EU countries vote for members of the European Parliament. These members discuss and vote on EU laws together with the Council. They represent the people of Europe.
The Council of the European Union: This group is made of ministers from each EU country's government. They also discuss and vote on EU laws. They represent the governments of the EU countries.
The EU is a fantastic example of how countries can work together. It helps people live in peace, be safe, and have more opportunities. It's a very interesting and important part of Europe today!
