A heartwarming Event at Katzir A School, Rehovot – as part of the "Intergenerational Bond" Program (G2G) with 7th Grade Nachshon Class and Their Grandparents
At Katzir A School in Rehovot, a unique program called Generation to Generation (G2G) is carried out as part of the English curriculum, led by teacher Etti Or, in collaboration with the 7th Grade Nachshon homeroom teacher, Yehuda Tzabari.
Throughout the year, students conduct interviews with their grandparents, exploring their life stories, immigration journeys, integration into Israeli society, and personal memories from the past. These stories are written in English and, at the end of the process, will be uploaded to the website of ANU – Museum of the Jewish People.
This is a meaningful and special project, currently implemented in only a few schools across the country. Its goal is to strengthen intergenerational bonds, honor the founding generations, and preserve our heritage.
This year’s annual school theme is “The Roots of My People”, which beautifully aligns with the spirit and purpose of the project.
A quick clarification about dictionary use in Grades 7–9:
Dictionaries (print/electronic) are learning tools and should be practiced regularly.
MOE guidelines allow all students to use an electronic dictionary.
For tests on taught vocabulary, dictionaries should not be used.
For reading, listening, and writing, dictionary use may be allowed.

A short checklist to help junior high principals review English teaching in their school:
• Make sure all English teachers are certified.
• Check that the required weekly hours appear in the timetable and are actually taught.
• Confirm that English Curriculum 2020 and the diagnostic tools are in use.
• Ensure there are intervention plans and support for struggling students.
