Plans for Today:
Announcements:
Group up, Share, and Discuss:
In groups of three, one person takes notes. The second person will be in charge of finding quotes, and the third person will be in charge of speaking to the rest of the class about what you found. MAKE SURE YOU USE BOTH QUOTES AND PERSONAL EXAMPLES TO ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS AS YOU WILL BE ASKED TO PROVIDE BOTH. There are some really good quotes in these readings and rather than me giving them to you, I'd like you to find them and share them with the class.
***If you finish with your concept before the other group finishes, move on and answer the questions in the second concept. If you are answering these questions in-depth with quotes and examples, you shouldn't have much time for the second concept. Keep discussion on your topic.***
GROUP A:
2.5, “Writing is performative”
GROUP B:
2.6, “Texts get their meaning from other texts”
LAST QUESTION FOR BOTH GROUPS: How do these two concepts connect?
If time permits... Discussion on the connection to your genre projects.
For those of you interested in more information on poster presentations for symposium, I got this email from the library about a workshop going on tomorrow (Nov. 13 at 3:30):
Swing by the library at 3:30 when the Writing Center will teach students how to transfer their research into a professional poster presentation. This workshop will introduce students to the general expectations of professional posters including font, images, layout, and citing sources. Following the workshop, students are provided with a template to design and draft their own poster.
Show up to your Seminar classroom as usual in OCNR 258 and be ready to present.
You will present your first draft of the symposium project in seminar. I won't be holding our class as usual since I'll be in seminar with you and Professor Jarvis. Use the time you would have been in my class to work on your presentations.
