RESEARCH AS LEARNING: READING RESPONSE
You will write Reading Responses (RR) throughout the semester in response to the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy in Higher Education. I will give you specific prompts, but the basic requirements of reading responses will be as follows:
- An effective RR will be about one to two pages, single-spaced, but the page length will depend on how much you feel needs to be written to answer the prompt for the specific RR. Some of your RRs may be longer as you engage more with the readings.
- Your purpose for writing these Reading Responses is to demonstrate the following:
- That you have read (or viewed) the assignments carefully
- that you are making connections among the specific readings for each week with the readings you have done in previous weeks in the course (in other words, response content accumulates)
- and that you are connecting the information in the readings with your past experiences and your future work in this course and beyond.
Nuts and Bolts (Guidelines):
- All of your Reading Responses (RR) will be saved in a separate folder titled "Reading Responses," which is inside your "Research to Learn" folder, which is inside your shared online class folder.
- The naming protocol for your document will be your first initial, last name, followed by the assignment title abbreviation. For example, “VGentry_RR_1”, “VGentry_RR_2”, and so on.
- See “Formatting and Documentation” for formatting requirements.
