Formatting and Documentation for ENGL 1302 Assignments:
Documentation style and citation format depend on the genre, audience, and purpose of your writing. For instance, a memo format will look very different from the format of a science article. As we go through the semester, we will talk more about appropriate documentation styles depending on the genre of writing. However, for your reading responses, to make everything clear and easy to find in our google doc folders, please use the following:
- Single-spaced, 12 point, Times New Roman font.
- Page numbers inserted at the top, right-hand side of the header.
- Your name, class section, and date written below the header, on the left-hand side.
- Title should be centered below your name, class, and the date.
- When citing, use APA format (see Purdue OWL for examples on how to cite in APA). Also, you may visit the CASA Writing Center here on campus for help on your APA citations. The writing center is a great resource.
- When you name your documents for your google doc folder, please title them according to the assignment and folder they correspond to. For instance, your first reading response for the Crossing Thresholds Assignment will be titled "VGentry_CT_1". For the Research to Learn Reading Responses you should titled them "VGentry_RR_1" and so on.
