scenario‐based practical skills integration simulations

Utilizing a video lead in, the team will be responding to a realistic scenario designed to highlight the skills practiced in the skills lab and integrating them into the simulations with real time responses for emergency equipment, medical assistance and Emergency Medical Services responses.

  • Practical Skills Integration Simulation sessions will be based on realistic events in sport specific situations based on the assigned sports participants represent.

  • Practical Skills Integration Simulation sessions will incorporate realistic field set up and response, with real time response of appropriate responding resources.

  • Practical Skills Integration Simulation sessions will include critical thinking and skills integration based on topics chosen by organizing staff.

  • Sport Specific Scenarios will progress from skills labs, but in a more fluid environment and include such topics as:

    • Immobilization Techniques in the Pre‐Hospital Setting: Moving Beyond the Basic Rigid Splint

    • Advanced Airway Management: Moving Beyond Basic Interventions

    • Pharmacological Interventions for the Athletic Trainer in the Emergency Setting

    • Spine Injury Management in the Unique Environment (up to four (4) hours of lab)

    • Airway Management in the Equipment‐Laden Athlete (up to three (3) hours)

    • Pre‐Hospital Management of the Cervical Spine Injured Athlete (up to four (4) hours of lab)

    • An Integrated Approach to the Multi‐Systems Trauma Patient‐ Stop the Bleed & Beyond / Beyond Direct Pressure: Evidence‐Based & Pragmatic Approach for Advanced Wound Care

    • Management of Exertional Heat Illnesses

    • Chest / Abdominal Trauma in the Athletic Population

    • Best Practice Recommendations for Improving Out‐of‐Hospital Cardiac Arrest

  • Mass Casualty simulations can be integrated into your scenario based training referencing previous situations involving athletic facilities and events. These topics often include:

    • Mass Casualty Triage

    • MARCHE Trauma Assessment

    • An Integrated Approach to the Multi‐Systems Trauma Patient‐ Stop the Bleed & Beyond / Beyond Direct Pressure: Evidence‐Based & Pragmatic Approach for Advanced Wound Care

  • Other topics can include:
