"She watched him carefully, noticing the dark circles under his smiling eyes and the slight tremor in his hand. She just reached out and held it, ready to catch him as he crumbled before her."

Born the daughter of an Eoksaran diplomat, Eleanor would never know the life and culture of her original home. Her parents were among the representatives sent to commemorate the celebration that was taking place in their capital city in Caldesaria. The night of the attack, eight-month-old Eleanor had been left with a trusted attendant while her parents attended the event. When chaos broke out in the streets, her parents were caught in the fray and were killed. Across the city, Eleanor was gathered with a group of other children of important figures, including her future teammates: Amber, Jacob, and Elaine. When the order was given to evacuate, the children were present and were among the first to travel through the gateways that would bring them to their new home.
She would be raised in a group of other surviving children without parents, the growing academy the only home she ever knew. She was among the youngest Hecathians in the academy, as unsurprisingly, the birthrate plummeted in the years following the attack within the surviving group as uncertainty and grief overtook them. Due to this, Eleanor was cherished by the community, and she was taken under the protective wing of her best friend's, Jaleya's, mother, Etesha Roitae. Under her guidance, Eleanor grew inspired by her stories of serving in the homeland's observance system as well as watching Cameron establish himself as a respected warrior in the academy's ranks.
Knowing that she wanted to follow in the footsteps of her role models didn't easily translate to her. The clash between her gentle nature and desire for cooperation versus the violent aspects of observance activities. Eleanor had never responded well to conflict when it arose, seeking negotiation that didn't always happen. Yet, the appeal of working toward peace and safety for their people, and stepping up to protect those who needed protection was just as strong as her objections.
Then, crisis struck. Etesha had been found dead by Jaleya, leading to a series of events falling like dominos. Members of Cameron's observance were leaving, including Jaleya, who had been training to join but had been utterly destroyed by her mother's death. Watching the events unfold, and feeling she needed to pick up Etesha and Jaleya's mantel where they fell, Eleanor made the decision to take the risk and see where it could take her. Taking Cameron's words into account: that warriors can seek peace rather than war, she decided that while violence was inevitable, it was up to her to decide what was worth fighting for.
