MS Word Examples

Example 1 - Playing Selected Music from YouTube & Online

This is an MS Word file that is a list of links to YouTube, as well as to some other online video sources, that when you click on the 'Play' button on that webpage, it then plays a video with music. There is no music within this file. This file just points to webpages that do play music.

Also, please note that the enjoyment of using this file, and playing these online videos, would be greatly enhanced if you connect your computer to a TV, and preferably, to a TV with an external sound system, like with a stereo (or multi-channel) receiver with nice speakers that are connected to the receiver. Of course, this is not necessary, and you can play these directly on your laptop or desktop computer.

Section One entries are links to online webpages that have high res audio (music), where the videos are either stills, or that have videos of audio equipment or scenic scenes, or of the inside of an audio show, or are people just talking, so the video is fairly insignificant. But the audio is usually of high quality and has been hand chosen and is terrific.

Section Two entries are links to essentially music videos, where the artist (singer, band, orchestra, etc.) are actually shown in the video, and the video is quite important to the overall enjoyment of the website. In this section, each entry (again, which is just a link to an online webpage) shows the resolution of the corresponding video, and the video resolution is clearly stated, thus allowing the user to play music with just HD quality videos if so desired. Those links that point to webpages that have full HD (1080P) video, then the resolution is marked in bold for easy detection.

Section Three is a tutorial on how to update this MS Word file so the user can make their own personalized music file. This teaches the user such things as:

1. How to use Word Styles,

2. Linking internally within the document, as well as linking externally to the web,

3. How to update the Table of Contents (TOC) so that the page numbers shown in the TOC still link to the proper pages,

4. How to save and update this MS Word file(s), and more!

In other words, this is a pretty good tutorial on how to use several features of MS Word.

While these music MS Word files can be used directly online, it is a bit cumbersome, and the Table of Contents links do not work (you have to manually go to that page number you see i n the TOC and find the entry you are looking for on that page). In addition, the user will not be able to make any updates when using this file directly online. So, it is best to download the MS Word file (s) to your computer, and do the linking to the online webpages from your own copy on your computer. This will also allow you to create your own version, your own music file.

If you do follow the steps and create your own version, please change the header and create your very own version name. To change the header in the MS Word file, just double click on the header, and it will allow you to change it in any way desire. Then, after you have made your header changes and need to get back to the text of the file, just double click anywhere on the text in the file and it will take you out of the mode of editing the header.

To download the file(s), place your mouse over the top right corner of the file you have chosen shown in this webpage, and you should see 'Open Document...' pop up. So click on this little box, and it will open up another webpage in a different browser window showing the actual music file. Once you have opened the music file online in this manner, then click on 'File' in the top left corner, and then drop your mouse down to 'Download', and in the popup window select 'Microsoft Word (.doc)' to keep the file(s) in the Microsoft Word format. It will then ask you where to save it, so be sure to remember where you put it on your computer! Of course, you will need the Microsoft Word product on your computer.

Lastly, there are two versions of this file listed in this webpage. The data content (which includes all the web links and entries) is the same in both files, but the size and detail of the TOC is the difference. The first file listed is the one with the complete, detailed TOC. This means that there is a TOC entry for every entry in the document, and when used as an MS Word file (not when using the  online file), the TOCs links are live and work. This means that you can click (you must also hold down the Cntrl key on your keyboard at the same time)  on the entry's page number in the TOC, and it will take you to the entry in the file, where you can then click on its link to the actual webpage and thus play the music (again, holding down the Cntrl key on your keyboard while you click with the mouse - this is a Word requirement when linking externally).

The second file listed in this webpage has a very terse (short) TOC, and shows only the music headings and not any of the individual entries. So, if you use this file online (if you do not download the file to your computer), then perhaps this is a better choice since the links in the TOC do not do anything when used online.

Also note that the header in the file shows the version of the file, which does get updated periodically. New music links are added or broken links (the owner of the website changed its location or deleted it) are updated. Each time a new version of the music file is made, the number ID is increased by 1. The file version that has the complete full TOC will always have the letter 'a' at the end of its version ID, and the version with the terse TOC will not have the 'a'. Reminder - if you do make your own version, which is highly encouraged so you can include music you like, please alter the header to make it your own as well.

If you have any difficulty with either downloading the file(s) or in trying to make your own version, call or drop us an email, which is found on this website under 'Contact Us'.

This First File has the Complete Table of Contents (TOC) which has Links from the detailed TOC to all the individual Entries as well as to the various Music Categories

This Second File is a Music File with a very Simple Table of Contents (TOC) which has Links from the TOC only to just the Music Categories

For those who would like to use the Music file, but not via Microsoft Word, I have saved it as a PDF file as well. Of course, you cannot use this version of the music file to create your own version, for those who would like to! But for those who would use the music file on their smart phone, the PDF version makes that easier to do and you do not need to have MS Word installed on your phone. This version of the PDF file has the full bore Table of Contents with all the individual links listed.
