At Elara Silkies, we take pride in breeding high-quality, well-socialized Silkie chickens. Our pricing reflects the care, time, and resources that go into raising healthy and well-adjusted birds.
Silkie Pricing Guide (2025)
Day-Old Chicks (Unsexed) – $15 each
Pullets (10-16 Weeks) – $40 to $80 each
Hens (16+ Weeks, Point of Lay) – +$80 each
✔ Selective Breeding for Quality
We focus on breeding from strong, healthy bloodlines to produce birds with good temperament, correct Silkie traits, and vibrant feather quality.
✔ Hand-Raised & Socialized
Our Silkies are raised in a family-friendly environment, exposed to dogs, cats, horses, and cattle, making them calm and well-adjusted pets.
✔ Rarity & Colour Variations
Certain colours are harder to produce, and pricing reflects the rarity. Let us know if you’re after a specific colour!
✔ Time & Care Commitment
Raising quality Silkies takes months of dedicated care. Unlike production breeds, Silkies mature slower, and pullets often don’t lay until 6-8 months old.
We often can't reliably sex our birds until they are 3-4 months old, so please be aware that if we keep chicks to grow out, there will be a waiting period before pullets become available. Additionally, many of these chicks may turn out to be roosters, which means we are investing time, feed, and resources into birds that may not generate profit. This is a key reason why sexed pullets and hens are priced higher than unsexed chicks.
✔ Fair Market Pricing
Our prices are in line with other reputable breeders in NSW, ensuring a fair balance between affordability and quality.
We kindly ask that all inquiries and discussions about pricing remain respectful. If our prices do not suit your budget, we completely understand, but we ask that you refrain from negative comments. We are always happy to answer questions about the care and value behind our birds.
By choosing Elara Silkies, you’re not just buying a chicken—you’re investing in a healthy, well-raised, and friendly addition to your flock!
