Hi! My name is Bethany Bothoff, and I am a Civil Engineering and Aerospace Infrastructure student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a focus in environmental engineering. I am also pursuing an accelerated master’s degree in Environmental Engineering and Sustainability. I have a strong interest in air quality, environmental monitoring, sustainability, and finding ways to use engineering and research to better understand the environmental impacts of a rapidly changing world.
I currently serve as a Principal Investigator in the SEEL Lab, where my research focuses on the air quality impacts of rocket launches and the growing aerospace industry. Our work uses low-cost air quality sensors, regulatory monitoring data, and atmospheric transport modeling to study particulate matter and gaseous pollutants surrounding launch events. As the project continues to grow, our team is expanding the scope of the research and developing multiple research papers from our findings. I especially enjoy working with and mentoring other student researchers, collaborating as a team, and finding new questions for our research to explore.
