Candidate for Ward 2 Councillor
Ward 2 Deserves Better
Eisham Abdulkarim
Candidate for Ward 2 Councillor
Building a safer, more affordable and more accountable Ward 2
Ward 2 is where my family's story in Hamilton was built. I am running because residents deserve stronger representation, greater accountability, and a councillor who listens, shows up, and delivers results.
My name is Eisham Abdulkarim, and I am running to be your next Ward 2 City Councillor.
Ward 2 has been my home and community for many years. My children were born in Hamilton, and I have spent years working, volunteering, and advocating for residents across our city.
I have served as a Constituency Assistant, community advocate, settlement worker, and former Vice Chair of Hamilton’s Immigrants and Refugees Advisory Committee. Through this work, I have helped seniors access services, supported families facing difficult circumstances, and assisted residents in navigating complex government systems.
These experiences have taught me the importance of listening, showing up, and working collaboratively to find practical solutions for our community.
I am committed to building a safer, more affordable, and more accountable Ward 2.
Building a safer, more affordable, and more accountable Ward 2
Ward 2 is not an abstract policy file to me. It is where my family’s story in Hamilton was built. My children were born here, and I have spent years working, volunteering, and advocating for residents across our community.
Like many residents, I understand the challenges families face today. Rising costs, housing pressures, concerns about neighbourhood safety, and the need for a stronger downtown effect all of us.
Through my work as a community advocate, former Constituency Assistant, settlement worker, and former Vice Chair of Hamilton’s Immigrants and Refugees Advisory Committee, I have helped residents navigate complex systems, access services, and find practical solutions to difficult problems.
I am running because Ward 2 deserves leadership that listens, shows up, follows through, and delivers results. Residents deserve a councillor who is accessible, accountable, and focused on the issues that matter most.
Together, we can build a stronger, safer, and more prosperous Ward 2.
My Visions for Ward 2
A Stronger, Safer, and More Affordable Ward 2
My vision is a Ward 2 where families can afford to stay, seniors feel safe and supported, local businesses can thrive, and young people see a future in the community they call home.
I want a downtown that is clean, safe, welcoming, and vibrant. A downtown where residents feel comfortable walking, shopping, visiting parks, and using public transit. A downtown where vacant storefronts are filled, local businesses succeed, and neighbourhoods are places people are proud to call home.
I believe housing should be attainable for residents at all stages of life. Whether someone is raising a family, starting their career, renting an apartment, or aging in place, they deserve a community that works for them.
I envision a Ward 2 where City Hall listens to residents, communicates openly, and is accountable for results. Decisions should be guided by the people who live here, not made without meaningful community input.
Most importantly, I want every resident to know they have a councillor who is accessible, responsive, and committed to working every day on their behalf.
Together, we can build a Ward 2 that is safer, more affordable, more prosperous, and more connected.
My Priorities for Ward 2
Safer Streets & Stronger Communities
Safety is the issue I hear about most from residents. People deserve to feel safe walking downtown, using transit, enjoying public spaces, and raising their families in our community.
My approach combines visible policing, stronger coordination between mental health professionals, outreach workers, housing providers, and community organizations, investment in youth, and support for seniors aging in place.
Affordable Living & Housing
Ward 2 is overwhelmingly made up of renters. Housing affordability remains one of the biggest challenges facing residents.
My focus is on increasing housing supply, reducing approval delays, protecting renters, maximizing available housing investments, and ensuring affordable housing remains part of our community.
Infrastructure, Cleanliness, and Downtown Revitalization
Residents should not have to wait years for sidewalk repairs, road improvements, or basic infrastructure maintenance.
I will advocate for better infrastructure planning, improved maintenance, downtown revitalization, support for local businesses, cleaner public spaces, and greater transparency regarding infrastructure priorities.
Cleaner, Prouder Neighborhoods
Residents deserve meaningful consultation before decisions are made.
I will work to strengthen neighbourhood engagement, improve transparency, establish community advisory committees, and ensure commitments are publicly tracked and reported.
