September 2019

On September 2019, Julia, Anna, Gerard, Júlia and Cristina travelled to Germany. A week full of experiences and joy were waiting for them. Those that will stay in their minds the rest of their lifes.

Thursday 19th

All started at 7:30 A.M., that Thursday 19th. We went by bus to Barcelona's T1 airport, ready to take off on our way to Hamburg, Germany. There was a flight delay and until 13:15 we didn't embark on our trip.

After two hours and a half, we arrived to Hamburg where a taxi-van picked us up to go to our final destination, Marne, where all the others students were. There was more or less one hour trip to Marne, so we enjoyed the views from the van. When we arrived, there were all our host families and then we went each one with their respectives. We met them and we settled in their houses to spend the week.

Friday 20th

Welcome at the school

This day could be called the reception day. We went to the school in Marne and we were informed about the programme. Once the presentation ended, we could play some games in order to get to know the partners of the project. Some time later, the students were organised into groups in order to do a short guide game around Marne. The different groups were led by German students. At the end of the game, the winner of the contest was decided and then we all ate some typical German meals.

At lunch time, everyone was free to do what they wanted to.

Sunday 22nd

Töning-Multimar Wattforum

On Sunday, we joined into a guided visit tour in Tönning and then, we enjoyed some free time in St-Peterording.

Our first stop was the Multimarewattforum, where we met all the Erasmus students and picked up a bus. Once we arrived, the guide started explaining us some curiosities about marine's life. She went on to say that, there are worms living under the mud and it's hard to recognise them, unless you keep staring at them for a while. Then, the lady also showed us some fossils founded in the deep see.

After some explanations, she guided us into an aquarium full of little crabs and fishes, some of wich, were hidden under the sand. Furthermore, we were able to see more aquariums with different species of fishes, jellyfish, etc.

Time later, we got into a laboratory, where we could learn more about the behavior of some mollusks, fishes, etc. One of these experiments, consisted in observing how mussels filtrated the rubbish that can easily be found in the sea and finally, transform it into clean water.

Monday 23rd

On Monday morning, we met in the school for take the bus to Hamburg.

Science Center Wald

The first station was The Walderhaus Science Centre and we were there at 10 o'clock. Just when we arrived, a tourist guide met us in the hall. He explained us that in these visit, we could learn how to conserve the forest without damaging the area. He showed us a map where we could see the location of the center, which was surrounded by a river called Elbe and he also explained the location of the installation and it was because the area was not important and they wanted to make it more recognisable.

Afterwards, we split up into two groups for doing two different activities. One of them consisted on visit a hotel room that was made out of wood and all the doors of each room included the name of the trees that had been cut for built the place. The other activity was in the exhibition room and we could see some trees that had been cut and put it in there. All these german trees had to be hollowed because they were too heavy. In this place we can see diverse habitat of animals, plants and mushrooms.

Tuesday 24th

On Monday morning we showed other students some project products we had worked with.

At 10 o'clock we went to the seal breeding station where we observed some seals. These seals are not locked up like if they were in a zoo, these seals have been heal so all the people working there are expert veterinarians. We saw how they ate and did some medical checks to see if they were fine.

At 12 we joined a guided walk in the tideland of the Wadden Sea National park. At low tide, the Wadden Sea becomes an enormous feeding area for migrating birds. The Wadden Sea is also home to the largest population of the common seal in Denmark, just as the warm and shallow water is the natural breeding area for many of their most important fish species. The guide showed us that many small animals live under the sand, like worms and crabs.

Then we had free time and returned to Marne.

On Wednesday morning we went to school and there the teachers had prepared us different topics and we had to separate in groups and argue about them. Once we all did all the topics, two people of each group talked in front of the rest of the students and teachers about what did the people in that topic argued about.

After that, we had some time to start preparing the presentations of each country, to decorate a booth and to cook , if we wanted to, a tipical meal that best represented our country.

At 1 P.M we all went home to have lunch with our partners' families and at 5 P.M we went back to school to finish the preparation of our booths, and after it we presented them to the other students and to the families.

At 7 P.M we finished the presentations and we had dinner with all the students and their families, we had so much fun and it was a cool way to say goodbye to everybody.
