Being Happy on Earth
15 So I commend the enjoyment of life, because nothing is better for a man under the sun than to eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will accompany him in his work all the days of the life God has given him under the sun.
Earth seems to make us have different demands on ourselves and the people we meet...We have an expectation of them and if they do not meet it, they often do not become our friends...Our expectation seems to be that we want them to be like us, and like what we like...
Maybe we are prejudiced with our ideas, our thoughts, and beliefs...This makes we think of when Solomon wrote to eat, drink and be merry is a way of happiness...Nothing is better for a man than to eat and drink and enjoy his work...I have also seen that this is from the hand of God...
Solomon in saying these things wasn't talking about our great ambitions, our greed, our selfishness, our biases, or our illusions of happiness...He was simple telling us to eat, drink, and be merry without the weight of things like ambitions, greed, selfishness, biases, illusions of happiness in our lives...
The little things in life make a difference...A simple life with God is a good one...
