NEW!!    Proficiency Resin Art Course

The Proficiency Resin Art Course covers a variety of techniques and is designed to give you confidence using the medium and the equipment used. All bookings must be made and paid in advance. Preferable to be completed in 6-12 weeks. Rescheduling is permitted.

Course Description:

Using quality artist's resin, pigments, inks and mica powders ensures you not only get a quality artwork but enjoy making resin art in a safe and supportive environment. You will be guided and tutored by an award-winning artist, to create your art on a quality, professional grade, cradled board, made especially for resin artists. Advice  and guidance on equipment to purchase to set up your studio and where to get the best products. Exclusive discounts on most products.

Your Workshop is conducted individually and I do try to pair up PRAC students so we work together, observe, learn and take home a beautiful project each week.  There are many techniques to resin art and you will learn a new one each week building a cache you can use in your home projects.  Each workshop provides a different challenge!

1.   Introductory Workshop - Learning the basics of colour theory and design, equipment and tools used, safety in the studio and personal safety PPE. Make a 60cm round artwork under guidance and supervision.

2.   Intermediate Artisan Workshop- Revision of design elements. New techniques using Butane torch on 40cm art board.

3.   Putting It All Together- Under supervision, concept visualisation, board preparation and combining learned techniques.                        Board shape optional.

4.   Functional Resin Art- prepare and decorate an approx. 35cm Cheeseboard and 4 Coasters.

5.   Resin Art Geode style – preparation of board, design using crystals, fire glass and glitter and resin in a natural form. Hollywood!!

6.   Resin Art -  Diptych. Learning to design and create a balanced artwork to cover two large rectangle boards which sit next to each other.

I can only enrol 10 PRAC students per year.  Bookings are now open for 2021.

ArtUpMarket

The biggest Art Fair in Western Australia is on, and it would be fair to say artists are pretty excited about it!

After months of not being able to show art in exhibitions or art awards we can now gather - safely- and enjoy seeing some of Western Australia's most popular artists all in one beautiful space. Lets face it is would take years or at least months to visit the studios of over 80 artists, so what a great opportunity to have them come to you, well in one space anyway. So, save the date for this ONE DAY Art Fair. Saturday 17th October. UWA Nedlands.

Winning ! Jewellery Award

I am very pleased to announce that my entry in The Artisan Store Fremantle Art Awards, 

" Kandinsky",  won the prize for Jewellery. What an honour to be judged by three professional Perth jewellers and awarded the win.

All of the entries were so very creative and the Highly Commended entries of which there were 3, were outstanding.

The exhibition is open to the public until 24th May at 135 High St, Fremantle. 

There are sculptures, paintings, textiles and of course jewellery, I would recommend a visit. Don't forget to also visit The Artisan Store at 80 High St, Fremantle too, where there are hundreds of works of art and giftware.

Art Award Entry

The City Wanneroo Art Awards open on Friday 12th May at the Wanneroo Library Gallery with a gala cocktail party and the announcements of the winners of the various categories and will then be open to the public for 4 weeks.

My untitled piece is in the painting section as it is ink on board. As you can see it needs to be seen up close to be appreciated as it has many layers, detail and depth. 

80cm x 80cm Ink on Board is covered in 2 layers of glossy Art Resin.

FYI- her name is "Epiphany" but it is not listed as such..ssh... secret.

I have three resin artworks in the WJAS Wanneroo Joondalup Art Society Art Exhibition, held over this weekend 5th and 6th May.

"Hello Kitty" Painting

I was so pleased to receive a photo of of my painting, "Hello Kitty" hanging in her new home in Lancashire, England. She is quite the lady, an acrylic painting 1200cm x 900cm and perfect for my client's glamorous bedroom.

I have always loved to paint figures, women mostly but the ubiquitous cat, dog and bird also appear. The feel of a brush on canvas is so cathartic and I will return to it often.

Mandjar Art Awards

My interesting painting Feast of Origins was sold recently at the Mandjar Art Awards. Entering art into a judgmental environment is challenging as you don't get to explain the narrative and there was certainly a story going along with this artwork.

Basically it was about renewal and the impermanence of our tenure, that this is all just the process. It is a happy painting and not as gloomy as that might sound, LOL.

Anyway, Mr and Mrs H are now enjoying this very colourful and many layered (in both senses of the word) artwork in their brand new home in Perth.
