This part of my e-portfolio demonstrates my class presentation on the comparative education philosophie subject which conducted which two major 'educational philosophies': Constructivism and Essentialism. I was able to learn and compare competing educational philosophies and examine principles of teaching and learning from different perspectives of educational experiences. Constructivism emphasizes learner-centered experience-based knowledge construction whereas Essentialism emphasized a structured core curriculum that conveys basic skills and values. Through the comparative educational philosophy presentation I was able to gain an in-depth understanding of these philosophies and how they shaped curriculum development, teacher identity, and the experiences of learners both locally around the world. The presentation strengthened my ability to think critically by considering different perspectives and experiences, and furthered my understanding and appreciation of foundational philosophies that underpin various educational systems.
