Kate is a PhD student at the University of Cambridge, where her research will explore Physics enhanced Machine Learning especially for problems related to nonlinear dynamical systems.
She holds a BSc in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Warwick, where her final year project focused on using Benford’s Law to detect changes in space weather data due to updates in observation instruments or processing algorithms. This work was published in the Royal Astronomical Society journal. Kate also earned an MSc in Statistics from the University of Warwick, where her research concentrated on developing the concept of data poisoning within the framework of Local Differential Privacy for network data.
Before beginning her PhD, Kate gained experience as a data scientist intern at Depop, where she worked on developing a prohibited item detection model using word-embedding techniques.
Kate joined the DVU research group in October 2024.
