The Los Santos Police Department has a program called the civilian ride-along program. This program was specifically designed to allow citizens to experience first-hand the types of calls and scenarios police officers may face. The goal of this program is to improve the relations between the department and the citizens of the community by promoting a welcome experience for both officers and citizens to be a part of.
Of course, the job of a police officer is very dangerous. With this in mind, we will not willingly jeopardize the life of the ride-along. With a program like this, many protocols are put in place to protect the officer, citizen, and the department as a whole. Officers conducting ride-alongs will not be dispatched to active or dangerous scenes that would otherwise risk the life of the ride-along, unless it is a high priority call with little response. In a situation like this, our officers will drop the ride-along at a safe location prior to responding, eliminating the risk of harm to the citizen.
Those interested in going on a ride-along can click on the link located on this page to access the request form. Please allow some time for the department to receive and review the request. Once received and approved, a department member will contact you for further information.
