Special Response Team
Function and Purpose
Our Special Response Team (S.R.T) was founded in early May following the deactivation of the community-oriented SWAT team. Following this major event, LSPD needed a specialized division that focuses on dangerous, high risk scenes. Because of the highly fluid nature the city has, the team needed to be mobile and effective at the same time, which is where S.R.T comes in. Unlike CST, the Special Response Team's focuses are aligned with dangerous and unpredictable work. The team does not conduct operations like CST in any way and will only activate upon explicit request by certain officers with one goal, to eliminate all threats and preserve all life.
Operations
Due to the nature of the operations of S.R.T, much of its internal information will not be publicized. The Special Response Team, as its name suggests, activates and specializes in a certain group of crimes and situations. Patrol officers are trained efficiently enough to conduct their duties but when it comes to complex situations, S.R.T steps in. Situations like barricaded suspects, hostage situations, large scale robberies, and massive surges in crime may all warrant the activation of the team. We may also assist our Crime Suppression Team in warrants they need to carry out upon completion of their investigation, which often deals with gangs and guns.
Recruitment Information
The Special Response Team is a highly elite team that not every officer is meant to join. This team was founded to select and utilize the best of the best within LSPD, from driving, firearms, and physicality to negotiating, overwatch, and scene command. Because you need experience, the team seeks members who are ranked Police Officer 2 or higher. Before becoming a full-time member, you must complete an application, have it accepted, then attend numerous trainings and be proficient in all certifications the team offers, which will not be publicized. Failure to get oriented and trained or violation of the S.R.T's SOP carries harsh punishments, given the nature of the team's reputation around the city and state.
