Pitch: the steepness of a slope, especially of a roof.
A 5/12 pitch means that if we move 12" horizontally, we will move 5" vertically.
Use a board that is at least 9".
Layout using speed square.
Put the pivot on the corner and then line up with the 5 for the common roof.
Utilize band saw and disc sander to cut.
We will cut the extra length off the end later.
A 5/12 pitch is about 22.62 degrees.
Determine the angle for the bottom chord using 22.62 as the opposite angle.
Put the pivot on the corner of your board.
Do the same at the opposite end of the bottom chord. Bottom chord length determined by width of the bathroom.
Dry assemble your truss so that the peaks meet at the peak.
Make a mark on the board where the bottom chord should land.
Adjust so that you are putting the nail downward.
2 nails is plenty.
Once both top chords are attached to the bottom chord put 1 nail through the peak at an angle.
Keep hands safely away.
