Hello! Welcome to my Honors Learning Portfolio! Over my four years at the University of Cincinnati, I'll be posting updates and reflections on my experiences in the University Honors Program, my involvement with organizations and community, my Years-in-Reviews, and anything else that happens while I'm at Cincinnati. Thanks for stopping by!
Hi, I'm Duc Anh Pham, a Finance and Business Analytics student at the University of Cincinnati. I’m curious about how technology can challenge the status quo and how thoughtful innovation can shape a more equitable and efficient future. That mindset first took root when I began researching antimicrobial properties of plants in high school, and it has stayed with me as I've explored the intersection of startups, capital, and impact.
During my freshman summer, I joined Green and Smart Mobility, an electric vehicle ride-hailing startup in Vietnam, just a few months after launch. We weren’t just scaling quickly. We were doing things differently. Unlike most platforms that treat drivers as gig workers, we hired them as employees with salaries and health insurance. In a country facing severe pollution and traffic congestion, the company’s EV-first approach also aligned with a future I wanted to be part of. That experience showed me the value of questioning assumptions, understanding the local market deeply, and building solutions that serve both people and planet.
In my sophomore year, I interned at CincyTech, a regional seed-stage venture capital firm that invests in both technology and life sciences. There, I supported deal sourcing, diligence, and portfolio company engagement. It was my first exposure to investing as a process of curiosity, analysis, and long-term belief in people building bold solutions. I saw how capital could accelerate innovation and also shape which ideas reach the market.
The following summer, I worked at Coterie Insurance, a growth-stage InsurTech company serving small businesses. I joined the Strategy and Analytics team, where I built internal data infrastructure to support faster and more informed decision-making across the organization. My work focused on creating visibility and alignment across teams, helping Coterie deliver insurance with speed, service, and simplicity. This experience deepened my interest in how data and operations come together to build customer-centric, scalable products.
Now, I’m excited by problems at the intersection of systems, strategy, and scale. Whether working with startups, investors, or mission-driven operators, I want to keep learning from people who challenge conventional thinking and create value in unexpected ways.
