Exhibit 5

Background:

• The goal is to create a piece that resembles a sketch. It is supposed to have an artistic take on an otherwise basic portrait.

• Revision: In order to make it appear more like a sketch rather than just a black and white photo, I added adjustment layers along with blended layers to add color. I also lessened the gaussian blur in order to make it more line enhanced.

Photoshop skills used:

• I used separate layers to build upon each other.

• I desaturated the photo and then inverted the colors

• I switched the image to a smart object

• I used gaussian blur in order to bring in a sketch aspect

• I used the paintbrush to lessen the shades not on the subject

Design:

• Contrast: I used contrast at first by just utilizing black and white. But in the second piece I added color and made more intense white, in order to make the subject really stand out.

• Color Choice: I did not add color until the revision. And the color that was brought into the drawing were the colors in the original photo. This gives it more of a lively look. It also brings intensity to the composition.
