Exhibit 2
Painted Home
Background:
For this exhibit I wanted to create a piece that had the visual attributes of a painting.
Revision: Based on the feedback I received from critiques, I chose to crop the image so there was a little less green. I also adjusted the colors on the home to make the image a little brighter. I sharpened the image and added an overall brightness to the picture.
Photoshop skills used:
I loaded the photo into Photoshop and cropped the image to where I wanted it.
I then transferred the image to Camera Raw in order to adjust color, brightness, sharpness, and contrast.
I returned with the image to Photoshop and utilized the history brush tool by completely covering the image.
I then adjusted the brush size as needed to get the detail I desired in the house.
Design:
Contrast: I used a finer brush to make the house more detailed. I removed a dog from the foreground so that the house would be the only shape well defined, increasing the contrast from the surrounding areas.
Repetition: The brush tool I used was repeated throughout the whole composition, but with varying sizes and detail.
Alignment: I used the rule of thirds to guide the composition. I also made sure that the straight lines throughout the picture aligned vertically and horizontally.
Proximity: I made sure to make the house the center of attention and to erase all the unnecessary objects surrounding it.
Color Choice: I wanted to keep the colors bright and vibrant to convey a happy and airy feeling.
