I am interested in rail fanning and rail photography (meaning, an Indian railways enthusiast) and actively involved in rail photography see - www.irfca.org. I am also interested in railway engineering and visited many railway yards to see the working mechanism of trains in close quarters.
I am an active painter and pencil sketcher right from my childhood and have bagged several awards including the first prize in the prestigious "All India Camel Art Contest" .. nowadays due to availability of only 'finite' time, i am unable to paint much, but still trying to wet my brushes !!
I have learnt professionally the mridangam (Indian percussion musical drums).
I read a lot about siddha and ayurvedic systems of medicine and ancient tamil and sanskrit literature to see the deep beauty and connection between the modern lifestyle which we are living and the ancient systems of living.
Interested very much in deep metaphysical questions like what is life? and as a result ended up in reading works like – Yoga Vashista, Prashnottara Ratna Malika of Adi Shankara, Srimad Bhagavatham, Ramana Maharishi, Nisarga Datta Maharaj and so on.. OF COURSE, STILL I AM SEARCHING THE TRUE MEANING OF LIFE ! … so to say, the non scientific part of life, u can call it the metaphysical region !! . To know more, the book "A Search in Secret India" by Paul Brunton will be a good starting point for beginners who want to keep their leg on this arena. I think many people confuse between the concepts of spirituality and science. One must not search scientific explanations for spiritual questions, as the domain in which they operate are mutually exclusive. It is the same difference which is existing between classical physics and quantum physics. When we are able to appreciate the domain of action of these theories, it is easy for us to also accept spiritualistic experiences which are far away from the domain of science.
I love travelling and visited almost all places in India (except the some parts of the north-east belt). India is a country where there is a change of culture and food every 100 km you travel. It is something unique in this world. There are wonderful places to visit in India which has no parallel with any other country abroad. It is only that, we Indians are ignorant about the existence of these beautiful destinations and also we are very poor in marketing our own stuff. I have written some travelogues which I will upload soon for some travel enthusiasts (due to popular demand).
During my free time, I visit a lot of temples all over India and study about their mathematical and geometrical properties in their structures and do a lot of photography - some prominent temples which I visited in the past (within brackets are the scientific specialities of the places): Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh (Circular Geometry); Shri Arunachaleswara Temple, Tiruvannamalai, Tamilnadu (Massive Fractal Structures) ; Shri Ramanathaswamy Temple, Rameshwaram, Tamilnadu (Stability of Structures) ; Shri Kandariya Mahadev Temple, Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh (Fractal stack Geometry) ; Shri Varadaraja Temple, Kanchipuram, Tamilnadu (Approximation by Smooth Functions in Stone Carving of Topological Objects with Genus like Torus and Sphere) ; Shri Brihadeeswara Temple, Thanjavur, Tamilnadu (Astrophysical Civil Engineering Marvel) ; Shri Sangameswara Temple, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh (Submergence and Flotation of Wooden Idols Based on Seasonal Changes) ; Shri Vaishnodevi Mata Temple, Katra, Kashmir (Rock Cut Geometry) ; Shri Airavateeswara Temple, Kumbakonam, Tamilnadu (intricate carvings with 3D photonic effects) ; Shri Jambukeswara Temple, Tiruanaikkaval, Tamilnadu (3D and 2D multidimensional perspective stone architecture) ; The Leaning Huma Temple, Sambalpur, Orissa (Leaning Heavy Tower but does not Fall due to Gravity), Shree Anantha Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Tiruvananthapuram, Kerala (Astronomical Synchronous Architecture) ; Shree Thanumalaya Temple, Suchindram, Tamilnadu (Optically Reflective Carvings, Medical Anatomy Style Carvings) ; Shri Gavi Gangadhareshwara Temple, Shivagange Hills, Karnataka (Where Ghee Turns into Butter!!), Shri Panchavarneshwara Temple, Nallur, Tamilnadu (The Rock which Changes Colour Six Times in a Day!) and MANY MORE TEMPLES.... !!!
