I welcome all the M.Sc. second year students who have chosen this elective. Your first class of the course will be on 9 January 2026 on campus at lecture hall P-1-6 in Physics Department. There will be three lectures per week in the following times (as per the time table)
Tuesday: 11 am - 12 pm, Wednesday: 11 am - 12 pm , Friday: 12 pm - 1 pm
Attendance will be taken via paperless mode using software

Astrophysics by Karl-Heinz Spatschek (Springer): It is a good and a detailed book on astrophysics.
Introduction to Astronomy and Astrophysics by Arnold Hanslmeier (Springer): It is a well written book for beginners.
Can Stars Find Peace? by Ganesan Srinivasan: An excellent popular exposition of the astrophysical processes happening inside stars.
Theoretical Astrophysics by T Padmanabhan (Cambridge University Press): A detailed 3 volume masterpiece for both beginner and advanced readers, worth reading.
An Introduction to Cosmology by Jayant Vishnu Narlikar (Cambridge University Press): A concise but a good book on basic cosmology.
Cosmology by Steven Weinberg: A masterpiece on cosmology.

IT HAS TO BE NEATLY DONE AND A SCANNED PDF MUST BE SUBMITTED TO YOUR CR ON OR BEFORE THE DEADLINE MENTIONED IN THE ASSIGNMENT.
