X Section - BTech First Year Physics (Chemical Engineering Stream)
August 2023 - December 2023 (Winter 2023 semester)
August 2023 - December 2023 (Winter 2023 semester)
Welcome to all the new students of Chemical Engineering Branch (you will be making up the X section), I will be teaching you PHL 103 first year physics theory core course for this semester
Your Classes will be in Class Room Complex (CRC) - Lecture Theatre CRC 6-2 (sixth floor) and your CLASS TIMINGS WILL BE:
Tuesday - 4 pm to 5 pm
Wednesday - 4 pm to 5 pm
Friday - 5 pm to 6 pm
THE REFERENCE BOOKS FOR THIS COURSE WILL BE
Quantum Mechanics for Scientists and Engineers by David Miller (Cambridge University Press) - for a conceptual approach
Modern Physics by Kenneth Krane (Wiley) - good time tested book
A Textbook of Engineering Physics by Avadhanalu and Kshirasagar (S.Chand and Co.) - beware of printing and conceptual errors!
Semiconductor Physics and Devices by Donald Neamen - a nice book on the subject.
Lasers: Fundamentals and Applications by Ajoy Ghatak and K. Thyagarajan (Springer Graduate Texts in Physics) - an excellent book for a good understanding of the subject
My course notes (which I teach in class) will be an important reference for a conceptual understanding of various topics.
For those who are interested to know more about physics in general in a very refreshing way, you can enjoy reading the book "ONE, TWO, THREE... INFINITY" by George Gamow. This is not the course book for this course but it is a nice coffee table book to have a good grasp of the subject in depth. This book has the speciality of producing as many as 5 to 6 Nobel prize winners in physics !!
MORE AS TIME EVOLVES !!!!!
