Some sports franchises are easy to love because of the prestige of the team, the amazing personalities of the players, a team’s dominating streak, and their rich history. Sometimes, it takes a fan to introduce others to the fandom. Dr. Matt Boente MD recounts five reasons why you should root for the Chicago Cubs.
1. Bill Murray Approved
Who wouldn’t want to stand beside acting legend Bill Murray cheering on one of the best teams in MLB history? Well, you may not get to stand alongside Bill, but you’ll be cheering for the same team. How awesome is that?
2. It might be a while
If the Model T doesn’t ring a bell, that’s because it came out in 1908. It took the team 108 years to win the World Series once more. Hopefully, the team won’t make fans wait that long for the next one.
3. It’s not as bad as our pizza
Chicago is notorious for its outlandishly bad pizzeria. What do they even put in there? If you live in Chicago and crave something to love, be there for the Cubs. It’s okay if you also like the Bulls. Cubs fans don’t discriminate.
4. Destined?
In the movie "Back to the Future Part II," Marty McFly’s sports almanac stated that the Cubs would win the World Series in 2015. While it didn’t happen in 2015, the team finally got the memo and won the World Series the year after.
5. Miguel Montero’s tweets Dr. Matt Boente MD simply adores Miguel Montero’s tweets and his usage of hashtags. Monter’s #wearegood is #golden, and his positivity is the light that will soon guide the team to a World Series win.
Chicago Cubs fan Dr. Matt Boente MD can’t get enough of his favorite sports team. The physician is also interested in the training of new doctors and in medical economics. For more Cubs trivia, visit this page.
