Throughout the Doctor of Nursing Practice program, I have achieved key Nursing Organizational Leadership Program Outcomes that have prepared me to function as a leader in advanced nursing practice, education, and systems-level improvement. This program has strengthened my ability to think critically about healthcare delivery, lead change, and integrate evidence into practice to improve patient and population outcomes.
I have developed competency in systems thinking and organizational assessment (Outcome 1) through evaluating healthcare delivery processes and identifying opportunities for improvement. This is further supported by my ability to lead knowledge translation and apply evidence-based practice (Outcome 2), as demonstrated through my scholarly work and curriculum development initiatives. For example, my telehealth curriculum integration project reflects my ability to synthesize evidence and implement innovative strategies to improve both student competency and patient care outcomes.
Informatics and technology integration (Outcome 3) have also been central to my development, particularly through the incorporation of telehealth into clinical education and practice. Additionally, my work in health policy advocacy, including my op-ed and legislative testimony, demonstrates competency in influencing healthcare policy (Outcome 4) to address access, quality, and equity in care delivery.
My role as a nurse educator and program coordinator has strengthened my ability to lead change and collaborate within interprofessional teams (Outcome 5). Through curriculum design and student engagement, I have contributed to advancing educational practices that prepare future nurse practitioners for complex healthcare environments.
Benedictine values (Outcome 6) have been foundational in my approach to leadership, guiding my commitment to respect for persons, service, and the promotion of human dignity in both patient care and education. Finally, my development reflects integration of professional standards, nursing science, and ethical practice (Outcome 7), which serve as the foundation for my role as a clinician, educator, and leader.
The included artifacts demonstrate my ability to integrate these competencies in practice and reflect my readiness to lead in advanced nursing roles.
The post-Master of Science in Nursing to Doctor of Nursing Practice (post-MSN to DNP) degree curriculum builds on traditional Master’s programs by providing education in evidence-based practice, quality improvement and systems leadership. This program is intended to enhance advanced practice roles to prepare experts in population-based practice, leadership and policy. Employers are quickly recognizing the unique contribution these expert nurses are making in the practice arena, and the demand for DNP-prepared nurses continues to grow.

Appraise health care organizations to assess strengths and weaknesses and facilitate organization- wide improvement in healthcare delivery from a systems thinking approach.
Perform as a leader in knowledge translation and application of evidence-based practice through critical evaluation, synthesis, and integration of health information data and research findings to improve healthcare and health care systems.
During NUR 853, I developed foundational skills for doctoral-level evidence-based practice projects. The artifact above highlights my work in budget development, which reflects the integration of evidence, resource management, and project planning. This experience strengthened my ability to translate evidence into practical, sustainable solutions that support improved healthcare outcomes and system-level implementation.Integrate informatics and patient care technology into clinical practice and organizational systems to improve healthcare outcomes.
Effective integration of technology into clinical practice requires a clear understanding of workflow processes. The artifact above, developed as part of NUR 848, highlights my analysis of clinical workflow and documentation within the electronic health record. This work strengthened my ability to evaluate and optimize the use of informatics and patient care technology to support efficient documentation, improve care coordination, and enhance patient outcomes.Influence health care policy at the local, state, and federal level to champion issues of quality, social justice, equality, and fiscal responsibility in the delivery of healthcare services.
DNP-prepared nurses play a critical role in influencing healthcare policy.
