Drill team is part of the many clubs offered through AFJROTC, where students learn how to march. Marching may consist of two different types: regulation drill and exhibition drill. Both types of drill are done in DRHS to create fun demonstrations for the school and separate competitions, such as regionals and nationals!
Regulation Drill
Regulation drill consists of basic movements that cadets will have to complete during their time in DRHS AFJROTC. This club allows them to receive specialized help from more experienced cadets as well as practicing more advanced movements. Regulation drill follows strict marching patterns that cadets will learn, such as patterns like 30 Step.
Exhibition Drill
Exhibition drill is similar to regulation drill, where marching concepts are learned by cadets with specialized help. Unique to regulation drill, exhibition drill consists of cadets creating their own marching patterns and sometimes practicing with rifles. Rifles are another exciting component, where cadets learn to carry, march, and even flip rifles!
