THOSE WHO WANT TO REMAIN HEALTHY ,PLEASE READ IT TILL END.
HYPERTENSION
deals with recording of high arterial blood pressure on three occasions ,recorded two consecutive weeks apart.
the normal arterial blood pressure recorded on the mid-arm is 120/80 mm of mercury in a person who is at mental and physical comfort .
the blood pressure recording above 140/90 mm of mercury is considered as High B.P or Hypertension.
high blood pressure recorded on one single occasion is not considered as Hypertension.
the hypertension when detected early in life around 25-35 yrs of age is mostly stress induced unless person is very obese or on high fatty diet.
the hypertension discovered in 36 years and beyond can be due to obesity ,sedentary life ,associated disease like Diabetes .
every diabetic with uncontrolled sugar is likely to get hypertension sooner or later ,unless taken care.
too much of mental stress in higher age group and inadequate sleep are risk factors for hypertension and heart diseases.
regular smoking and alcohol too are equally important risk factors for hypertension.
obesity by itself is independent risk factor and all those having fatty belly must go for a B.P. checkup on regular basis.
FACTORS COMMONLY RESPONSIBLE FOR HYPERTENSION:
Obesity the most common cause in middle age.
Lack of physical activity or Sedentary life style.
Improper and inadequate sleep habits (poor sleep Hygiene)
alcohol ,smoking are the big culprits.
associated disease conditions like Diabetes and Hyperthyroid.
personality factors like anxious and stressful personality.
Irritable and short temperament can at times lead to Hypertension.
personal and professional stressors(pressures).
lack of social real social support( social network may not help as much as real support).
MECHANISM OF INCREASE IN BLOOD PRESSURE.
in obese person increase in body size leads to increase in area of blood supply putting demand on heart to increase the pumping pressure(the exact mechanism is more complex).
during stressful situation ,there is increase in thought process leading to activation of autonomic nervous system (auto pilot of body) that leads to narrowing of small blood vessels ,leading to increase in back pressure in the big arteries(where we record BP).
nicotine in the tobacco works on same mechanism leading to increase activity in autonomic nervous system.
alcohol though relieves mental stress temporarily (by decreasing brain activity)increase calories ,leading to obesity.
HOW TO IDENTIFY -IT IS HYPERTENSION
When you are Obese with increase in your body -mass index (BMI) more than 25 ,you should check for your blood pressure.
when in times of stress you feel little heaviness in chest and little breathlessness , you should lookout for your B.P.
when you get severe throbbing (pulsatile ) pain in back of your head (occipital region) not associated with cold and not relieved by pain killers ,it can be due to High blood pressure.
COMPLICATIONS OF UNTREATED HYPERTENSION
uncontrolled Hypertension can lead to Brain stroke.
Brain Hemorrhage leading to Coma ,Death or Paralysis
Sudden massive Heart attack mostly lethal (leading to death).
Kidney damage and Kidney Failure.
TREATMENT AND REVERSAL OF HYPERTENSION.
When diagnosed with Hypertension ,one should start the Medical Treatment immediately. .
Try to check the treatment response every two weeks and then regularly every three months with your Family Physician or Expert.
Once on treatment never stop the treatment suddenly as it may lead to Rebound Hypertension ,leading to brain stroke or heart Attack.
CONTROLLING AND REVERSING HYPERTENSION
Life style Modifications ,in the form of Regular Daily exercise .
Fat and salt restricted diet.
If obesity is the cause then undertaking a weight reduction schedule and reaching the desired BMI of less then 23 should be the target.
Regular walking ,cycling jogging etc. for 25-30 minutes a day
Taking adequate sleep of at least 6 to 7 hours in night .
Reduction and stopping consumption of alcohol and smoking.
Regular practice of Yog and Meditation for mental -physical control.
Training and practice of Self Hypnosis for preparation of Mind for execution of above changes and hence the Reversal of Hypertension to Normal.
Gradually the Medication can also be reduced and removed under Physician's Guidance.
