My name is pronounced “Bo-Prey.” You are welcome to call me Dr. B. or Professor B. for short. Dr. is used to refer to faculty who have a PhD.

Remember to sign your full name (including your student ID is a plus!)

You can also message me directly or ask questions in the #help channel on Discord! Other students may have some of the same questions as you. If you message me directly (versus #help), please let me know the CRN for the class you are in and your name.


When can you expect a response?

I will respond to you via email or Discord usually within 24-48 hours. I may not respond instantly, especially during weekends, holidays, or evenings. I will let you know if/when I am traveling and unavailable during regular hours. By providing info about the class you are in and who you are, I will respond quicker because I won't need to look up as much information.


Virtual Meet Up


I am happy to meet with you to chat about the course or answer questions. I may set up virtual sessions (video or audio-only) throughout the course. To meet one-on-one, please email me or message me on Discord to set up an appointment.


Graduate Assistants

Our graduate assistants help with grading and organizing the course. You will have some contact with them periodically. However, you should always email me directly and cc them if you need anything.

Educational background and current status in the program: I graduated with a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University in 2020. I am currently wrapping up my second year in the Criminal Justice and Criminology M.A. program at SHSU.


Interests/career goal(s): My current research interests center on enhancing school safety, examining school violence, analyzing links in juvenile delinquency through climate and culture analyses. I hope to become a professor after completing a PhD program.


Hobbies: When I am not doing school work you can find me hanging out with my cat, Boba! Other than that, I enjoy binge-watching TV shows, listening to music, and starting DIY projects that never get finished. If you need show, movie, or song recommendations, let me know!

Kristina Block

Educational background and current status in the program: I graduated with a B.A. in Criminology and Psychology from Chatham University in 2019. I graduated with an M.S. in Criminology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2020. I am currently in my second year in the Criminal Justice and Criminology Ph.D. program at SHSU.


Interests/career goal(s): My research interests are broad and I am currently doing work on several topics. I recently published my first paper on the effects of NHL hockey games on city-level crime and hope to do more work on sports and crime. I am also interested in studying the associations between sleep and delinquency and head injuries and delinquency in adolescent populations. Lastly, I would like to explore more on the Cinderella effect which argues that parents abuse their stepchildren at higher rates than their biological children. My goal is get a job as a professor after I complete the PhD program.


Hobbies: My favorite activity in the world is ice hockey. I played all throughout my childhood, in college, and am now playing on two adult teams in Houston. When I'm not working or at the rink, I enjoy walking and playing with my dogs, Peanut and Moose. You've probably seen them on campus as we walk there nearly every day!
