The Commanding Officer Acts as the Lead Role of the Unit, taking orders only from the SNSI and NSI, and directly addresses to the Command Staff. The Commanding Officer is the lead role model to the Unit, and is expected to be as close to perfect as possible. This Cadet follows principles, coordinates activities, and directs meetings of the Cadet Staff. Their responsibilities include:
Carries out all orders from the SNSI and NSI
Coordinating & Conducting Staff Meetings
Ensures a constant Schedule in the NJROTC Unit, working with the Operations Officer and Instructors on different events and competitions approaching
Plans out activities accordingly and ensures these activities are performed in the highest manner
Monitors the performance / conduct of the Cadet Staff and NJROTC Unit
Promotes the NJROTC Program and Unit
The Executive Officer acts as a secondary to the Commanding Officer, withstanding all responsibilities as the CO, and filling his/her place in their absence. Acting as Second in Command, the Executive Officer completes any and all tasks that have not yet been fulfilled. The Executive Officer directly corresponds with each Cadet Staff member to ensure their performance is up to par. Their responsibilities include:
Chairing NJROTC meetings
Carrying out all orders and principles directed from the Commanding Officer
Serves as the primary informer, ensuring all Cadet Staff are aware of new changes and principles
Takes up any and all responsibilities of the Commanding Officer in their absence
Monitors all of the Cadet's staff performance and conduct, including the Commanding Officer
Represents the Unit in any activity and performance
The Command Master Chief acts as the direct relation between the Command Staff and the Unit. Acting as the primary Enlisted Cadet, the Command Master Chief ensures a solid relationship between the Officers and Enlisted Cadets. They often settle problems within the unit regarding platoon commanders, chiefs, or specific cadets. The Command Master Chief is assigned tasks including:
A Solid Relationship between Officers and Enlisted
Ensures Platoon Commanders are well informed, well instructed, and well observed on their performance and conduct
Reports any and all problems the Unit has to the Commanding Officer
Inspires the Unit and represents the Core pridefully
The Operations Officer plans events and activities of the Unit in accordance with the Command Staff. Coordinating with the SNSI, NSI and CO, the Operations Officer creates and executes plans for specific Unit events. This includes multiple activities such as:
Coordinating Field Trips
Coordinates Color Guard performance ( in conjunction with the Color Guard Commander)
Coordinates Community Service Dates (in conjunction with the Community Service Officer)
Keeps the Cadet Staff up to date on upcoming performances, events and competitions
Conducts plans for Unit Activities
The Administrative Officer acts behind the curtain and takes care of the paperwork for the NJROTC Unit. The Administrative Officer is in charge of recording any activities, rewards, and accomplishments of Cadets throughout the Unit. Their responsibilities include:
Recording Unit Activities and the Cadets that participated
Recording Cadets personal achievements and rewards
Checking Cadets Personal Achievements and Rewards before handing them out
Recording Cadets Community Service Hours (in conjunction with the Community Service Officer)
Maintaining the Doherty NJROTC Website
Preparing Paperwork for the Unit (Permission Slips, Sign Up Sheets, Information Sheets, etc.)
The Supply Officer is responsible for all gear and equipment that comes into the Unit's possession, as well as making sure each and every Cadet has all the proper uniform items. Responsible for the Supply Room and everything in it, the Supply Officer checks on all gear within it. Consistently checking on equipment's capability and need of repair. The Supply Officers responsibilities include:
Ensuring Every Cadet has all the proper Uniform Items
Handing Out Promotions / Awards, under the approval of the Commanding Officer and checking of the Computer Records (ADMIN)
Ensuring Equipment is fully functional and practical
Repairing any damaged equipment to the best of their ability
Head Counts all items taken out of the Supply Room, and ensures all of it returned
The Community Service Officer plans Community Service events and keeps track of each Cadet's community service hours recorded. They are constantly on the look out for more possible Community Service Activities. They lead Community Service Activities and record participation of Cadets and the amount of hours, reporting it to the Admin to record in the Computer. They're responsibilities include:
Creating Community Service Opportunities for the Unit
Keeps Calendar up to date with the Operations Officer
Records Cadet's participation / hours
Coordinates Sign-Ups
The Public Affairs Officer takes care of the NJROTC's Unit public appearance, whether through News Articles, Documentaries, or other forms of Public Networks. The Public Affairs Officer also acts as the central historian, consistently taking photos throughout the year and recording them in a yearly Scrap Book, as well as for a Slideshow at the Cadet Ball. The Public Affairs Officer's responsibilities include:
Keeping the Doherty's Unit image positive.
Creating a End of Year Slideshow of activities throughout the year to present at the Cadet Ball
Creating a Doherty NJROTC Scrapbook of the Unit's activities and Cadets.
The Ordnance Officer is responsible for Drill and Color Guard Rifles. The Ordnance Officer is trained in how to disassemble, repair, and reassemble a Drill Rifle. The Ordnance Officer ensures that rifles are prepared for Competition and Performance usage. Their responsibilities include:
Constant Conditioning of Drill Rifles
Constant Condition of Color Guard Rifles
Head Count of Every Rifle
Repair of other Armory equipment
Consistent Reports to the Commanding Officer of the status of each rifle
The Head Training Officer is responsible for the training and preparation of all Cadets in any focus. The Head Training Officer conducts classes for cadets to learn. These classes range from Color Guard to Drill to Orienteering. The Head Training Officer is responsible for:
The Training and Certification of Cadets for Color Guard
The Preparation of any Honor Guard Team (in conjunction with the Honor Guard Commander)
Conducting checks of each Cadet on the Drill Team in their overall performance
Re-certifying Cadets in Drill, Color Guard and Honor Guard.
