Enlisted Rates
E-1 | c/SR
Cadet Seaman Recruit
Assigned to every new cadet in the NJROTC program.
Description : No Insignia given.
E-2 | c/SA
Cadet Seaman Apprentice
When qualified, cadets can advance to SA in the first year.
Description : The collar device is Two silver diagonal stripes.
E-3 | c/SN
Cadet Seaman
When qualified, cadets can advance to SN in the first year.
Description : The collar device is Three silver diagonal stripes.
E-4 | c/PO3
Cadet Petty Officer 3rd Class
An Outstanding cadet may achieve this rate during their first year.
Description : The collar device is a perched eagle over one chevron.
E-5 | c/PO2
Cadet Petty Officer 2nd Class
Advancement of this rate is normally acquired during the second year.
Description: The collar device is a perched eagle over two chevrons.
E-6 | c/PO1
Cadet Petty Officer 1st Class
Advancement of this rate is normally acquired during the second or third year.
Description : The collar device is a perched eagle over three chevrons.
E-7 | c/CPO
Cadet Chief Petty Officer
Cadets can acquire this rate during their second, third, or fourth year.
Description : The collar device is an eagle perched over a fouled anchor.
E-8 | c/SCPO
Cadet Senior Chief Petty Officer
Cadets can acquire this rate during their third, or fourth year.
Description : The collar device is an eagle and one star perched over a fouled anchor.
E-9 | c/MCPO
Cadet Master Chief Petty Officer
Cadets can acquire this rate during their third, or fourth year and is assigned the position of Command Master Chief.
Description : The collar device is an eagle and two stars perched over a fouled anchor.
Officer Ranks
O-1 | C/ENS
Cadet Ensign
Generally an exceptional third or fourth year cadet. Becoming an Officer is a sign of Pride and Growth. But also a sign of more responsibility and a higher standard.
Description : The collar device is a single gold bar.
O-2 | c/LTJG
Cadet Lieutenant Junior Grade
Assigned to officers ready for additional responsibilities.
Description : The collar device is two attached gold bars.
O-3 | c/LT
Cadet Lieutenant
Assigned to Officers who've contributed enormously to the Unit. Very few positions are authorized this Rank.
Description : The collar device is three attached gold bars.
O-4 | c/LCDR
Cadet Lieutenant Commander
Assigned to Officers who've established themselves as a Leader in the Unit. Only the XO and CO is authorized this rank.
Description : The collar device is four attached gold bars.
O-5 | c/CMDR
Cadet Commander
Assigned to the Commander of an Unit. Only the Commanding Officer of Medium-Large size Units may obtain this rank.
Description : The collar device is five attached gold bars.
O-6 | c/CAPT
Cadet Captain
The Highest Rank achievable in the NJROTC. Only given to Battalion Commanding Officers (Over 300+ Cadets in a Unit)
Description: The collar device is six attached gold bars.

O-8 | RADM - Rear Admiral Upper Half
