Fix: Age of Mythology won't start on Windows 10

If you can't launch Age of Mythology on Windows 10, you can fix it as follows.

Description of the situation:

・Age of Mythology & The Titans Expansion won't start after upgrading Windows 7 PC to Windows 10 (1903).

・AoM crashes immediately after starting without displaying anything and yields the following error box: "Age of Mythology has stopped working"

・I couldn't find a solution when searching online, but I was able to solve it on my own.

・The solution is simple: rename aom.exe and aomx.exe.(for example aom_.exe, aomx_.exe)

I think the exe file has been renamed, so the faulty settings are no longer loaded.

Age of Empires 3 and Rise of Nations Thrones and Patriots can also be launched by renaming.

Conditions

・Windows 10 pro 64bit 1903 (ja), GPU GTX 750Ti

・Age of Mythology & The Titans Expansion

　December 2006

　This DVD version contains the latest patches :

　- 1.10 for Age of Mythology

　- 1.03 for Titans expansion

Other things you need are MSXML and DirectPlay, but they install automatically.

I didn't need to use compatibility mode.

The DVD version worked without anything except renaming.

The CD version of AoM also Launch by renaming.(use no-cd crack exe)

CD version does not pass copy protection (CD check) on Windows 10.

I checked the CD version with the files on this site.

Measures that were unnecessary this time.

・Windows XP compatibility mode

・Low resolution xres=640 (add arguments to shortcut)

・Copy the geforce3.gfx file in the gfxconfig and gfxconfig2 folders and rename it to i845.gfx (for Intel HD graphics)

There were other games with the same symptoms, so it seems to be a common problem with Microsoft games at the time.

・Rise of Nations Thrones and Patriots

・Age of Empires 3

Although it was a trial version that I confirmed the operation, I think that it will also work in the product version.
