ZBrush excels at allowing you to texture your models directly inside the software, giving you powerful tools for both painting and projecting textures.ย
Polypaint allows you to paint directly onto the vertices of your model, storing color information per polygon. This is useful for high-resolution models.
How to Use:
Make sure your model has enough polygon density to capture the details.
Go to Tool > Polypaint and activate Colorize.
Use brushes with RGB enabled to start painting directly on the mesh.
Use Spotlight to project images or photos directly onto your modelโs surface, creating realistic textures quickly.
How to Use:
Import your images into the Texture palette.
Click Add to Spotlight to add them to your painting workspace.
Use the Spotlight dial to adjust image placement, scale, and rotation.
Enable RGB on your brush and start painting/projecting the texture onto the model.
After painting with Polypaint, you can bake that color information into a UV-based texture map for export and use in other engines or tools.
How to Bake Textures:
Ensure your model has proper UVs (see UV Master).
Go to Tool > UV Map and choose your texture size (e.g., 2048x2048).
Navigate to Tool > Texture Map > Create and click New From Polypaint.
Export the resulting texture for use in other software or real-time applications.
