Contributions to Excellence in Teaching

Documentation of artistic excellence in teaching and coaching students reflected by teaching a 3/3 course assignment, director of a staged reading and continued appointment to serve as Playwriting minor area coordinator.

        • Taught 3 classes each semester in the Department of Theatre Arts.
        • In the fall 2016 semester directed developmental staged reading of Obie award winning playwright and departmental alum, Nikkole Salter's new play, Torn Asunder. This endeavor expands teaching beyond the classroom by helping students move from theory to applied techniques in an environment that reflects a culture of professionalism.
        • Served as area coordinator for the playwriting minor.
        • Guided and supported 22 playwriting minor students through ongoing advisement sessions.
        • Extended learning beyond the classroom through invited guests working in the professional arena along with student attendance at local theatrical productions followed by analysis and discussion.
          • Guest Artist Workshop - Christopher Berry from Florida A&M - discussed working as an actor, alternative careers and shared opportunities for graduate education at Brown University/Trinity Rep. September 9, 2017
          • Guest Artist Workshop - Dr. Sharrell D. Luckett, author of Black Acting Methods, lead a workshop on black acting methods.
