La pièce de resistance of the powerwall. The automatic transfer switch switches between green "18650" power or the grid. This goes automatically. The switch uses Normal as standard position and Reserve as spare. Ofcourse I prefere to use the green power as standard and when the batteries go low, the inverter switches off and the transfer switch switches to the grid. The "switch" takes about 2 seconds, so be aware not to connect personal computers.
This switch switches between green solar power and the grid. On the left you notice the "N" and "R". N stands for Normal, is green solar power in my case, when green power runs out of juice (and the inverter switch off), the switch goes to "R" reserve.
The ATS is located in an electrical cabinet in the garage. The grid, that comes via the main electrical cabinet is connected to right and goes through a device that measures the Kwhs, the green power comes via the left side through the same device, the ZMAI-90. Four circuits in the house are powered via this cabinet.
The ATS switching time is 2 seconds. It's not long, but for some appliances like desktop computers this is a problem. Use a small UPS if needed. For notebook, small heater, fridge, freezer, waterbed, ...that's just fine.
The electrical cabinet uncovered. 4 breaker circuits. Mainly used for a small heater, waterbed (3kwh/day), fridge, Washing machine, dishwasher, 3D printer, notebook, ....Average daily consumption is 7kwh.
The ZMAI-90 is a small but very nifty device. It not only measures the power that goes through the device but it allows you to control the circuit with an APP via your mobile phone. The ZMAI-90 connects via your 2.4Ghz wifi.
The app Smartlife is installed on my android phone.
