History of Discovery in 1972
Discovery, the first planned unit development in Frederick County, was under construction on a 160 acre tract of land four miles from Frederick City. The master plan for the community includes 255 single family units, 400 townhouses, a 6.5 acre Shopping Center, a swimming pool, tennis courts, a day care center, and other recreational facilities.Â
Shopping center and day care are no longer part of the Discovery HOA.
This photograph of Discovery was taken in 1972 when Revelation Avenue, Inquiry Court, Dream Place, Discovery Place, Discovery Boulevard, Seekers Walk, Daring Court, and Inspiration Court were under construction.
