Strategies

Our Selected Strategies

All of our programs are UNIVERSAL: designed for the entire population without regard to individual risk factors

All of our programs are also available to families at NO COST to the family and fixed cost per community (through grants, cities, businesses or a collaborative effort). We believe it is important to serve all families regardless of race, income, family make-up, values or risk factors. By moving into a selective or indicated level we would actually be encouraging families to move to or remain in those categories in order to remain qualified. Our goal is to motivate and empower families to move beyond the risk factors, not stay in them.

Our Vision: A future free of the death and disease caused by tobacco

Our goal in incorporating this first ever evidence-based program to prevent vaping among our youth is to save lives and create healthier communities by:

  • Mobilizing organizations and individuals to join the efforts to educate and encourage kids to choose to live drug free,

  • Empowering a tobacco-free generation by fostering youth leadership and resilience,

  • Informing the public, policy makers and the media about tobacco's devastating consequences,

  • Expose and counter tobacco industry efforts to market to children and mislead the public,

  • Promote public policies and provide families with resources proven to reduce tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke.

Pyramid Model Consortium

The Discovery Family Adventures and it's components focus on empowering parents to learn to build nurturing and responsive relationships with their children and create high quality supportive environments. We seek to provide targeted social emotional supports from our many coalition partners to help parents and families be the very best they can be and achieve their full potential. If you have resources to support families in this all-important quest, please join the Discovery Family Coalition HERE.

QPR Training

Coalition members chose to support efforts to deliver QPR training to families and coalition partners in our area. Several members of the coalition offer these trainings on a regular basis in some of our grant areas. However, if you are an organization that provides these trainings in your area we would love to help you promote your trainings. Please let us know and join the coalition HERE.
