Discovery Family Adventures: Prevention at it's BEST!
Do I need to register in the program, and why?
We are hearing AMAZING things about how the Discovery Family Adventures are impacting families in positive ways. We LOVE being able to provide this resource to ALL families, and we want to keep it that way!
In order to do this we do need to implement a more structured program to provide data for our funders. What that means for you is that . . .
Well, actually, it doesn't really mean any changes for families EXCEPT a 3-5 minute pre-survey when you start and a short post-survey when you finish. Families that have been qualifying for the family reward events will still qualify. The requirements are the same to qualify-- they just need to do so as a part of the official program!
For families that prefer not to be an official part of the program, no worries! You are still welcome to use the Adventures to build resilience in your kids and to enjoy the ideas, the TIPS, the community engagement ideas, etc. You just won't qualify for the family reward events.

How does it work?
We are looking for a number of families that are willing to do the following:
❏ Complete a short pre-assessment survey
❏ Participate in the program for 8 weeks under the following guidelines:
→ 5,000 Points: Complete Adventures specifically for PARENTS ONLY to learn how the program works (this takes about 1 hour plus some listening time-- great for when you're doing the dishes, folding laundry, etc.)
→ 6,000 Points: Complete 6 basic adventures with your family (goal setting, 8-for-8 hugs, eating together, reading together, service, and chit chat)
→ 4,000 Points: Earn an additional 4,000 points completing Adventures selected by you and your family. This can be a combination of the core Adventures worth 1,000 points and mini-Adventures ranging from 100-800 points each
→ For at least 2 of the Adventures include the community engagement level of the Adventure. You will earn extra points for these.
❏ Complete a follow-up post-assessment survey
Note that any family that has qualified for the Family Reward Events in the past would also qualify under these guidelines. The only difference is a pre- and post- assessment survey

Q & A
Q: Is this going to require more time than what I have been doing?
A: If you have been qualifying for the Family Reward Events this will not take any additional time other than completing the pre- and post- assessments, which should not take longer than 5-10 minutes at most.
Q: Can I participate if I am already doing the program?
A: Yes! We want you to participate! We will ask that you complete the pre-assessment based on what you were doing before starting the program.
Q: Will I have to re-do the 'Parent Only' Adventures if I have already done them?
A: No. If you have already completed the Adventures you have already completed them.
Q: Will I get any extra benefits for completing the program?
A: Yes! You will get to choose your Family Reward Event!
Moving forward families will need to complete the pre-assessment survey and be officially enrolled in the program in order to qualify for the Family Reward Events. They will be eligible to qualify for the Family Reward Events during their initial 3 months. Following the initial 3 months they will need to complete the post-assessment survey. They will then be qualified to earn Family Reward Events at any time in the future.
Q: Will there be any other required assessments in the future?
A: Required, No. We will send out a general survey annually that we would love to have you complete as this will help us to assess long-term impacts of the program.We would love to have you complete these future surveys, but they will not be required for you to continue to earn your Family Reward Events.
Q: Does this affect my Family Reward Event for March?
A: No. Any family that qualified for the family reward event in March will still be qualified to earn their reward whether they choose to participate in the assessment phase or not. As of April 1 all families will be required to complete this initial assessment phase to qualify for the Family Reward Events. Of course, anyone and everyone is still welcome to utilize the Adventures and all of our free resources any time. They just won't be able to earn the Family Reward Events.
Q: What if I start and we are not able to complete the Adventures required for the program? Is there some type of penalty?
A: No! We hope that you will complete the program as outlined above so that your data can be included in the research as a family that completed the appropriate dosage, but there will be no penalties for not completing it.
