Civil Engineering deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment such as roads, bridges, etc. Civil is always linked to the understanding of physics and mathematics and incorporates many sub-disciplines like materials science, geography, geology, environmental science, and more. Until recent times, the difference between civil and architecture has not been so defined as something like the pyramids both looking aesthetic but also an engineering masterpiece.
Building Science is the science that defines the ability to create better environmental quality in the world like more energy-efficient built environments and comfort and satisfaction for the end user. Both methods from hard sciences like simulations and soft sciences like case studies are both used for building science. Traditionally building science has been used for the study of indoor thermal, acoustic, light, and air environments.Â
