Whenever a Monster Battle ends without a Defeat, the Monster goes away, and its identifying number is added to a Wandering Monster List. (it can be good if one player is responsible for maintaining this list)
If the Monster has NO way of Attacking the group for three times in a row
If the Group has NO way of Attacking the Monster, and successfully Runs Away, the Monster becomes Wandering
- How to Run Away
Once the Monster becomes Wandering, re-roll the current Tunnel Die (with the 1 pip) as you would at the conclusion of any Battle.
When the group enters Catacombs, the first (top) Monster on the Wandering List (if any) will Attack.
(you don't need a die to represent the Monster; assume it is within the Catacombs)
This is treated the same as a normal Battle with two exceptions:
Defeat does NOT award an extra Character die
Defeat does NOT allow for rolling Gems afterwards
If the Wandering Monster is defeated, cross it off the list.
If the Wandering Monster manages to become Wandering AGAIN, do not cross it off, but remember it has been encountered so the next Wandering Monster will the next on the list.
(if at the end of the list, simply cycle back to the top of the list again. In this way, some Monsters might annoyingly be encountered again and again)
