The Desert Nature Alliance Museum is home to all of the incredible displays and items we bring to showcase at the different #STEM events we attend during the year! Designed as a "Compare and Contrast"-style Anatomy Museum with nature based education we combined hands on elements with areas quite delicate housing tiny Canyon Bat skeletons!
Come alone or come with a group. Bring a class or conduct one of your own, the Museum is ready for you. If you have special needs or abilities let us know! We will accommodate the best we can. Anxiety? No worries. Relax and know you are a welcomed guest. The goal is for you to fall in love with nature! Nothing more. Nothing to buy, nothing for sale, nothing to sign up for. Simply come.
With so much to see and learn about our local Sonoran desert and wildlife here in the Superstitions foothills, we also created an outdoor nature walk right here on our property. Designed to show what the start of a basic a trail is like plus introduce you to a variety of dangerous cactus but more importantly, determine if you are ready physically or mentally for any form of local hiking. We recommend you wear covered shoes, bring water, wear a hat and possibly carry a backpack , so please stop by if you are truly unsure about heading out to one of the popular trails. We are located near the Hieroglyphics Trail if find yourself out this way. AZ heat, unfamiliar terrain and other factors can greatly effect your ability to hike safely. There are no lifeguard towers or water stations to help you in the Superstition Mountains. Safety and Caution are required. Knowing your limits and being willing to turn around could save your life.
All the bones, skulls, teeth, parts and pieces of desert wildlife, were found locally from wild animal meal leftovers, DOR (dead on road) or properly donated to the dNa for the sole purpose of educational use became known as "The Collection". Basic anatomy, visual and tactile size comparisons, identifications, limb use and articulation, study reference, educational videos, in person classes and workshops are just a few of the valuable resources The Museum holds.
The dNa knows how important hands on, tactile learning can be with science-based studies and education. The dNa also believes nurturing nature-based hobbies and crafts is extremely important at any age. Because of this, the dNa currently provides limited access to The Museum, at scheduled times and dates with a reservation. This allows us to make special accommodations when needed or requested and to limit capacity to ensure a better quality experience.
The Museum can be found on our YouTube Channel @Desert Nature Alliance
