For this project, I took the social media addiction survey at the beginning of this particular project and the results said that I am not addicted to social media.
I wasn't really surprised because I don't spend a lot of time scrolling through social media every day. I mostly use it to stay in touch with family and friends or to look up information when I need it.
I also like to create pictures and post them for my family and friends to see.
The quiz reminded me that social media can be useful as long as it does become the primary focus of your daily life.
I think social media has changed society in may ways, both in positive and negative ways.
Social Media helps us stay connected with friends and family, especially loved ones who live across the country or in other parts of the world.
Social Media also gives people quick access to news opinions, educational videos, and other helpful information. Keep on mind that we do need to verify sources of information that we receive that are not from credible or reliable sources.
On the other hand, I think spending too much time on social media can be unhealthy, and it can also spread misinformation very quickly.
Overall, I believe social media is useful if people use it responsibly and not spend all day using it.
According to the Pew Research Center, 83% of U.S. adults use YouTube, making it the most widely used social media platform.
Why I chose it:
I chose this statistic because I didn't realize that so many people use YouTube. It makes sense because people use it for entertainment, learning new skills, watching news, and finding answers to questions. I use YouTube much more often than other social media sites, to learn things instead of just scrolling through posts. I also watch TV shows and look at music vidoes. I actually have a premium subscription for YouTube; it lets me play videos without commercials and with the screen turned off. I like YouTube.
This project helped me think more about how social media impact in positive and negative ways in everyday life.
I learned that different age groups use social media differently and that YouTube is the most popular platform as is used by all age groups.
I also learned that it's important to use social media in moderation and to make sure the information you see comes from reliable sources and that you just don't believe everything that you read with verifying it first.
I believe that social media is a valuable tool for staying connected with family, friends, and people around the world.
It makes communication faster and allows us to share ideas, experiences, and important information immediately and almost instantly.
At the same time, I also believe that social media can be used to spread misinformation or mislead people because there are so many different platforms and anyone can post content without verifying it's accuracy. That's why it is important to think critically and check reliable sources before believing or sharing information on the social media sites that we use.
Overall, I believe that social media is a powerful tool that can have either a positive or negative impact depending on how it is used. When people use it responsibly and thoughtfully, it can educate, connect, and help bring people together in positive and meaningful ways.
