HISTORY OF MACTAN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
Mactan Senior High School started on June 13, 2016, under Republic Act 10533, also known as the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013. It began with 198 students enrolled in different strands such as Academic GAS, TVL Cookery and Bread and Pastry, Technical Drafting, Electronics Servicing, Local Guiding, and Dressmaking. There were 7 teachers who served as advisers, while other teachers from the Junior High School helped teach the subjects. In the same year, Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) was added as a new strand.
After three years, the school expanded its Academic Track by adding ABM and HUMSS, and the following year, STEM was also offered.
In 2025, the school introduced the Flexible Learning Program to help students in the Alternative Learning System and Open High School Program. This program supports working students, pregnant learners, and those with health, financial, or physical challenges who cannot attend regular classes. In the same year, caregiving and animation were also added as new strands.
At present, the Senior High School follows the Strengthened Senior High program, offering two main tracks: Academic and Technical Professional (TechPro), under a three-term calendar. Because of the growing number of students, the school also started double shifting to accommodate everyone.
