Brunch holds a special place in our hearts at Delnor. The consensus amongst our program lists. Buttermilk as the fan favorite. Other notables include Nosh, Syrup, Brunch Cafe and Egg Harbor. There are so many wonderful local ma-and-pa restaurants, it's tough to make a bad choice!
It’s harder for us to reach consensus on lunch, although tacos are a clear favorite. If you're looking for something quick, Taco Madre is a go-to. But if clinical education and experience hours are wrapped up, treat yourself and grab a seat on the patio at Bien Trucha!
If you’re not hungry for tacos, other notable lunch mentions include: Just Kabobs, Crosstown Pub and Grill, and Atlas Chicken Shack.
Restaurants that deliver to the hospital or clinic is a whole separate list. If you have small people and are looking for a quicker option, Randall Rd. also has a Wahlburgers and a Chick Fil A. Many of our favorite places to eat dinner are also on Third Street in downtown Geneva. If you’re hungry, you can park near the Geneva train station (FYI, the train to downtown Chicago takes a little over an hour) and walk until you find what you crave. Delnor faculty and resident recommendations include: Burger Local, Del Barrio, Barrel and Rye, Livia, Gia Mia, Stockholm, Osteria Bigolaro, Bien Trucha, Cravings.
Nearly the entire program has a sweet tooth and we are equally split on the best dessert in the TriCities: Graham’s vs. All Chocolate Kitchen. Both are great and located within a block of each other, and you can't go wrong with either one. Thinking about snacking on some gelato or truffles with a giant chocolate velociraptor? Then head to All Chocolate Kitchen. If you’d rather be sitting outdoors in an Adirondack chair with a shake or an ice cream cone, then make your way to Graham’s. They are really both a “must-go” and “can’t miss.”
