Maureen McDermott Cannon is a flutist and educator who holds a MM in music performance from Syracuse University where she studied under John Oberbrunner of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra and a BM from Wilkes College (now Wilkes University) where she studied under Diane Massie, piccoloist of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra.
Maureen is retired from 26 years of teaching Elementary Band in the Lake Forest and Caesar Rodney School Districts. She then taught the Vocal and Instrumental Ensembles at St. Thomas More Academy in Magnolia, Delaware, and now works part-time as the Assistant Band Director at her alma mater, Dover High School in Dover, Delaware. Additionally, she taught in the flute studios at Delaware State University and Wesley College. She currently maintains an active flute studio in her home in Dover, Delaware.
As an avid free-lance musician, she served as the principal flutist for the Dover Symphony Orchestra for nearly 30 years and performs with the Black and Bling Trio (Flute, Violin, and Viola) and Diamond Deux (flute duo).
Maureen shares her life with her husband John and four adorable fur-children: Casper, Remi, and Oliver (Bichons Frises), and Angus (Rottiepoo).
