As the Chief Resident at the General Internal Medicine Clinic at Roosevelt, I worked with residents day in and day out. I provided informal support and mentorship to a number of residents, particularly those with career interests in primary care.
As supervising faculty at the VA Puget Sound, I mentor and help to co-manage primary care and women's health clinic patients with Dr. Maria Cassera (2020-present). I also supervise the care of patients by Dr. Rebecca Keenan, Dr. Andrew Paddock and Dr. Vince Rhaikel in women's health clinic at the VA (2020-present).
Prior Clinic Resident Mentees:
Dr. Lauren Pollack (2017-2020)
Dr. Lauren Noll (2017-2020)
Dr. Karolina Kucybala (2017-2020)
In 2018 I mentored a senior resident, Dr. Allyson Goldberg, in a quality improvement (QI) project to implement daily pre-clinic huddles at the General Internal Medicine Clinic at The University of Washington. Together we ran a multi-disciplinary rapid process improvement workshop (RPIW) in the spring of 2017, and since then she has played a major role in sustaining the implementation of MA-provider huddles in clinic. We published a piece on our QI work in the University of Washington's internal Resident-run Quality Improvement Journal, BRICK. In addition, our abstract was accepted for presentation at the Northwest Regional Society of General Internal Medicine Conference 2018, Seattle, WA. Allyson went on to run another RPIW with the goal of improving the rooming process.
As a preceptor for the Primary Care Practicum, I work with Arin Collin, MS2. Together we see primary care patients in clinic. Through our longitudinal relationship I hope to facilitate growth in the students' outpatient clinical skills, including interviewing and performing physical exam. Previously I worked with Mercy Joyce, MS1-2.
I have had the pleasure of mentoring a premedical student, Anthony. I worked with Anthony when he was a senior at the University of Washington and applying to medical school. He was a volunteer at General Internal Medicine Clinic at Roosevelt, and spent a number of afternoons shadowing me in clinic. I provided support during medical school application process.
