The Bachelor of Fine Arts (Ceramics Art & Design) program is a four-year undergraduate program that focuses on the creative and technical development of ceramic art and design. The program integrates artistic expression, material knowledge, and craftsmanship with contemporary design approaches to create innovative works in ceramics.

Positioned at the intersection of art, craft, and design, the program emphasizes hands-on practice, material experimentation, and process-based learning. Students explore form, surface, and firing techniques while engaging with both traditional ceramic knowledge and modern applications. Graduates are prepared to become ceramic artists, designers, and creative practitioners in both artistic and industrial contexts.

Study Plan

Year 1: establishes a strong foundation in art and design principles. Students take core courses such as Design I, Drawing I, and Basic Studio I to develop essential visual and technical skills, alongside an introduction to the field through History of Ceramics.
Year2:  focuses on developing hands-on ceramic skills and material knowledge. Students learn fundamental techniques in Hand Forming and Wheel Throwing I, study Clay Bodies and Glazes I, and practice surface decoration in Decorating Techniques. They also begin using Digital Technology in Ceramics for design.
Year 3: students advance to applied design and professional preparation. They explore Basic Ceramic Design and deepen their material science in Clay Bodies and Glazes II. A major Creative Ceramic Project allows for individual exploration, while courses in Research Method and Seminar Management and Management for Ceramics provide essential academic and business skills. The year concludes with a Practical Training internship.
Year 4: is dedicated to the development and completion of a culminating thesis. The first semester focuses on Art Thesis Preparation, where students formulate their research and project proposal. The second semester is devoted to the Art Thesis, an independent capstone project where students produce a comprehensive body of work, demonstrating their individual artistic voice and mastery of ceramic processes.

Admissions (TCAS System)

Admission is conducted through the TCAS (Thai University Central Admission System), which consists of four rounds: Portfolio, Quota, Admission, and Direct Admission.

The Faculty places strong emphasis on Round 1: Portfolio, which is the primary selection pathway for the Ceramics Art & Design program. Applicants are evaluated based on their portfolio, academic performance, and interview, with particular focus on creativity, material exploration, and craftsmanship.

Applications for the Portfolio round typically open in October, with detailed requirements announced annually on the University’s official admissions website.
