Vision
Creative and Design Wisdom Provider in Asia,
the Faculty of Decorative Arts aspires to be a leading institution that cultivates advanced knowledge, innovative thinking, and culturally grounded design excellence. It seeks to generate, integrate, and disseminate design wisdom that responds to societal needs, drives the growth of creative industries, and contributes meaningfully to both regional and global communities.
Core Value
DEC
represents the core values of the Faculty of Decorative Arts: Determination to pursue excellence with resilience and commitment, Empathy to understand diverse perspectives and design with human-centered sensitivity, and Creativity to generate innovative ideas and meaningful design solutions for a changing world.
Identity
The official emblem of the Faculty is Ganesha enclosed within a circular frame, which is the same emblem used by Silpakorn University.
The informal emblem is a lotus motif inspired by a carved slate panel depicting a lotus that adorns the ceiling of Wat Si Chum, Sukhothai Province. It was originally designed by Professor Silpa Bhirasri, and the current version has been refined to achieve a simpler and more streamlined form.
The Faculty’s official identity color is orange, symbolizing creativity, energy, and enthusiasm. It reflects a spirit of innovation, warmth, and dynamic thinking, as well as a commitment to inspiring ideas and driving forward the creative potential of design.
The mascot of the Faculty of Decorative Arts, affectionately known as “Nong Okbab,” was designed by Chakrit Thammasiri, an alumnus of the Faculty. The design is based on fundamental geometric forms—circle, square, triangle, and cylinder—representing a strong foundation in design principles.
