Second meeting with our client, Encik Azral the owner of Pasar Raya Ikhwan Kulim

Based on the survey conducted by our team, we found out that most of the people in Kulim community still do not know about the existence of Pasar Raya Ikhwan even though they live in Kulim, Kedah. They do not aware of the Pasar Raya Ikhwan and their products. This happens because of the poor marketing strategy of the Pasar Raya Ikhwan itself. They do not have flyer that provide information about their products such as what Giant Supermarket do not fail to do. When we observe their Facebook pages, they rarely post about their products and try to reach out more new customers. Pasar Raya Ikhwan also do not have Instagram account which making it more difficult to reach more customers. Furthermore, their own product brands are really not that popular because people still want to buy well known brand instead of buying the Pasar Raya Ikhwan brand.
In Kulim, Kedah there were so many supermarkets such as Tesco, Giant, TF-Value Mart, Minat, Eco, and so forth. Pasaraya Ikhwan was built in Kulim in early 2019 and the location was near with Giant, TF-Value Mart, and Eco. Beside that, Pasaraya Ikhwan building was in front of a residential area and the residential area name is Taman Cendana. The people that live in Taman Cendana have variety options to buy groceries at Pasaraya Ikhwan, Giant, TF-Value Mart, or Eco.
In term of the products, we found out that there are many empty shelf in the Pasar Raya Ikhwan. When we interviewed the owner, he said that most of the shelf is because they are always having problem with shortage of stocks and they need to wait for the suppliers. Based on the survey also, the customers of Pasar Raya Ikhwan also voice out their concern on this problem where they feel that they always cannot find their choices of products in Pasar Raya Ikhwan because either the workers not refill the products on the shelf or due to the stock shortage.
Pasar Raya Ikhwan should advertise their products regularly so that new customers will aware of their brand and products. Instead of just do posting about their product on the Facebook page they can use the paid advertisement in the Facebook to reach out more people. Create Instagram account since Pasar Raya Ikhwan do not have Instagram account, and just like the Facebook they can take advantage of the paid advertisement.
Based on the data analysis that we did, some of the customers prefer Giant Supermarket and Tesco because the price of the goods in Pasar Raya Ikhwan is higher than the competitors such as Giant and Tesco. . Pasaraya Ikhwan should do promotion activities and spread the word by using the social media.
Pasaraya Ikhwan employees should keep check every product in the market to prevent from empty shelf and knows what types of product that need to always refill.
